These are open sores or raw areas that develop on the inside lining of your stomach ( gastric ulcer) and upper portion of intestine ( duodenal ulcer) . Most common causes include infection by H. Pylori bacteria and excessive long term usage of pain killer medications ( NSAIDS) .

Symptoms may include – burning sensation, pain in the stomach, feeling of fullness, bloating, belching, intolerance to fatty foods, nausea, heartburn.
Detected by direct visualisation on upper GI endoscopy.
Management involves avoidance of excessive usage of pain killers and treatment with antibiotic- antacids combination therapy.
