Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver that happens when tissues of the liver are injured or infected.

Commonly occurs as a result of excessive alcohol consumption and viral infections. Other causes include autoimmune disease and secondary to drugs, medications and toxins.

Symptoms include – fatigue, flu like symptoms, dark urine, yellowish discoloration of eyes/ skin, pale stool, abdominal pain, loss of apettite and unexplained weight loss.
Diagnosed on medical/ past / drug history , physical evaluation, blood tests ( mainly complete blood counts, liver function tests, viral markers ) , ultrasound imaging and liver biopsy.

Managed by identifying the cause and treating it.
